Our Team

OUR TEAM

BVR Automotive was established by Dave Beaver at the start of 2009 after more than a decade working within the Volkswagen Group main dealer network. Between them, the staff at BVR Automotive have over 70 years of experience on VW Group vehicles!

From the start we’ve had a focus on excellent value, total honesty and the highest standard of work. All of this has ensured complete customer satisfaction across every area of work.

We have an amazing team here with every member working together and sharing similar attitudes regarding the quality of the service we provide to customers.

We’ve grown steadily over the years, if you think you could be a good fit here in the future please get in touch.

Dave Beaver

Dave Beaver

Director

Dave started on a Volkswagen Dealership apprenticeship at Stoke VW straight from school in 1998. He then spent over 10 years within the VW Group network, leaving a senior technician role at VW and setting up BVR Automotive in 2009.

As the business has grown Dave now works on the admin side of the business and in a supportive role wherever needed. Covering any holidays or dropping into the workshop to help with busy days, train and support apprentices or pass on his technical knowledge.

Since January 2025 Dave has been back on the tools while we look for the right person to replace Liam in the workshop.

If he’s not at work he’ll probably be out on his mountain bike with Tom (The office dog), or on his motorbike.

    Liam McHugh

    Liam McHugh

    Manager

Liam started his career here at BVR as an apprentice vehicle technician in 2013. He left BVR in 2017 and spent nearly three years at a local VW dealership before realising how amazing it is here at BVR and returned in early 2020.

Since his return he has completed various IMI qualifications including level 4 electric & hybrid vehicles and gradually moved more towards the day to day management. At the start of 2025 Liam moved into our front of house full time and now manages the day to day operations at BVR.

Outside of work you will find Liam helping out at Abbey Hulton UTD or spending time with his family.

      Brad Beaver

      Brad Beaver

      Service Advisor

Brad is Dave and Emma’s eldest son.

He started at BVR as a temporary service advisor in July 2024 to help out after completing his A levels in Maths, Business and Economics and is excelling here.

Long term he is planning on joining the RAF and is currently going through the application process giving us plenty of time to find the right person to fill the role permanently in late 2025.

Outside of work he enjoys hiking, paddleboarding and (after passing his test in early 2025) riding his motorbike

        Joe Meadowcroft

        Joe Meadowcroft

        Apprentice Technician

Joe started at BVR in July 2024 straight after finishing school.

Joe will be completing his apprenticeship working alongside the team in the workshop while doing day release at Stoke-on-Trent, college until 2027.

When Joe’s not at work you will usually find him mountain biking, going to car shows and when the weather is bad, he enjoys gaming.

          Reg Cooper

          Reg Cooper

          Part time Technician

Reg has been mates with Dave for nearly 20 years since working together within VW Group.

Reg has been semi retired and working part time covering holidays and busy periods at BVR since 2018. He now works at BVR Tuesday to Thursday when needed and he’s available.

Away from BVR Reg spends most of his time supporting his son Will who competes at para snowboarding throughout Europe!

You’ll sometimes find his son Will here brightening the place up with his poor jokes and their dog Indy lazing around.

            Emma Beaver

            Emma Beaver

            Director

Emma has been supporting Dave with BVR ever since he had the crazy idea to leave his job and go alone in late 2008.

Over the years she has done most roles, from service reception, to the heavy lifting in the workshop for Dave in 2017 when broke his back and the place nearly closed.

Nowadays she works three days a week behind the scenes doing all the things that make the place sparkle and function smoothly. (That you never notice until she isn’t here)

She also adds female voice and opinion for things we’d never consider but make a huge difference to the place.

Outside of work she loves long walks with Tom as well as riding her mountain bike and her 700cc motorbike!

              John Marsh

              John Marsh

              Senior Vehicle Technician

John started at BVR in 2021 after 7 years in the motorcycle industry as a technician. He worked for brands such as Yamaha, Kawasaki, Mv Agusta and KTM achieving Orange technician level at KTM.

Since being at BVR he has excelled in his role taking full advantage of the in house knowledge of other staff had and also completed a whole range of IMI training. He now spends his time doing mainly diagnostic and major repair work while continuing to learn and push his development.

When John is not at work you will likely find him out on his motorbike or gaming when its raining.

                Troy Smith

                Troy Smith

                Apprentice Technician

Troy started at BVR in July 2023 straight after finishing school.

Troy will be completing his apprenticeship working alongside the team in the workshop while doing day release at Stoke-on-Trent college until 2026.

Troy has progressed really well during his time at BVR, as of June 2025 he has already completed year 2 and half of year three despite year three not starting for another three months. (He does have a family advantage as his Dad was a very good Audi Master Technician before moving to work for Ducati.

When Troy’s not at work you will normally find him out on his motorbike (A lovely classic Aprilia RS125 – not his dads Ducati V4 in the picture)

                  Steve Smith

                  Steve Smith

                  Part time Technician

Steve and Dave have been mates for 20 years since working together within VW Group and his son Troy is currently doing his apprenticeship with us.

Steve used to work for Audi as a Master technician but left to follow his dream and currently works for Ducati. Luckily for us Ducati don’t work Mondays and Steve has an expensive track day hobby meaning most Mondays you’ll find him earning extra money working here at BVR.

He helps us get through our never ending backlog of problem jobs while sharing his decades of knowledge helping our team get stronger still.

When he’s not working he’s normally out doing UK or European track days on his fancy Ducati Panigale V4S

                    Tom

                    Tom

                    The office dog

Tom (Dave and Emma’s dog), is always happy to see you and is normally found lounging around in the office (on Dave’s chair!) or sunbathing by the workshop door in the summer.
He’s worked here since he was 10 weeks old and is by far the most popular member of staff.
His hobbies include taking long daytime naps, chasing Dave around forests when he’s biking and going for long walks.
